      Quiet phone

I have just managed to get my phone line sorted out after haveing to ring sky nine times as thay would not believe i had a problem with my phone.(Due to there line test saying everything was ok). Basically sky managed to arrange for someone to come out and check my line and found a damaged wire at the exchange so replaced this. I now have my phone line back up and running but now the line seems very quiet. I will be running a new line from the bt junction box to my master socket. Ans the a cable from the lower half of the master socket to my router and sky+ box.

Which wires should i connect to the a&b screw terminals on the master socket. And allso which wires should i connect to the lower half to run the extension cable.

      Cheers for your help.
Great site keep the work up

      Re: Quiet phone

Only the main BT cable connects to the a&b terminals, the extensions then connect to the 2 & 5 terminals on the rear of the faceplate.

It is also best not to run the router from an extension, much better to fit the router to the master socket with a filtered faceplate and run an ethernet cable from there.

      Re: Quiet phone

If you have other extensions then fit a filtered faceplate to the master NTE5, connect these to 2, 3 & 5. For the extension that goes to the router/Sky box use CW1308 cable and fit a socket with ADSL filter built in, connect this extension to A & B on the faceplate. It is ideal to plug the router in to the master but good quality short extensions should make no difference to the speed you get.
