    Master Socket is green box?

      Or replace the green box with a BT 80A.

      Brian if you look at the picture posted on page #1 you'll see that the cable comes out from that socket to go to the junction box. So there will certainly be sufficient cable to put it straight to an NTE5. As for the wire being too thick I cant comment in this case but i've upgraded these junction boxes in the past and the incoming cable has always fitted the nte5 IDC's just fine.

      Take off lid of green box and telephone socket, post photos of the inside of the both off them, carefull of the telephone socket lid as it has wires attached to it, gently separate it fron the back box.

      Hard to make out from side on but could be a 52A (from Telephones UK - Connection Boxes). What's written on the roundel on the top? It should say GPO or BRITISH TELECOM - if the latter then at least we know the wiring is after 1980!
