Lol its to late now, but did you check it wasn't just a lose connection on the back of the Master Socket where the drop cable screws in the A/B screws, allot of these are just damp and oxidation on the exposed copper, simply needs a little stripping back to expose fresh copper and screwing cables back in.

Anyway the Prefiltered faceplate is a wise purchase in all setups.
