What was causing my problems.
My negative readings were caused by corroding wires in the box outside our house connection our ADSL filter to the phone line outside because some idiot that had the house before us decided that he/she wanted to 'repair' the wires him/her self which after a while had started to corrode making the phone line all crackly when I answered the phone and kept giving my false download and upload speeds.
The sky engineer came out to our house today and fixed the problem in a matter of 5 to 10 mins, also recommend that I ring up sky and ask them to bump up my speed because I can apparently get a lot more.
So my speed would show:
Connection Speed 3072 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 50 db 29 db
Noise Margin 245673890 db 9 db (Not actual, but around about the same thing)
Upload would stay the same.
After line fixed I get this:
Connection Speed 3072 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 50 db 29 db
Noise Margin 14 db 9 db

Re: What was causing my problems.
The speed I should be receiving after boost given from Sky (in about 2 days) should be double what I am getting at the moment.
So I guess 3072 add 3072

Hi here is a little on attenuation remember these results are for a perfect line so you should get near to the number shown http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/route...explained.html
you should get around 5500kbps you might get a bit more depends on any extensions or any other issues

Re: What was causing my problems.
Don't use extensions and all other faults are gone, I think I would be getting a better connection speed if my exchange would upgrade their equipment on the other side, I think im still using the old equipment.

Hi your exchange has been upgraded you can see on SamKnows Broadband - Availability - Exchange Search Just put in Wallsend and it will show you 21CN WBC status: Enabled which is what the majority of the country is waiting for the issues could be the wiring from the cabinet to the house.

Re: What was causing my problems.
Call up sky on 08442410515 and have the line uncapped. You're currently capped on 3072 kbps. You're correctly set to g.dmt, so it'll be a case of a few tweaks on sky's end, but I'd be kind of surprised if you pushed out a stable 6mbps. I'd guess you'd be sitting at around 5mbps after the configuration is done.

Re: What was causing my problems.
Ha! Thats exactly what sky has just said... Well around about.
Sky: "We will try to set the speed to about 6mbps if your line cannot handle the speed, We will drop the speed to 5mbps." "It will be done in 48 hours time"
Me: "Ok great thanks, Bye Bye"
Sky: "Goodbye, Hope you enjoy sky."

Oh also, Whats FTTC? Sam says Wallsend doesn't have FTTC.

Re: What was causing my problems.
That was a fob-off. They should have passed you to CST and they would have done it while you were on the line.
FTTC = Fibre to the Cabinet.
