Re: re,what wires to use when running an extention
From your master socket an enginner would connect to the same wires on 2 and 5 (They should be the white/blue and the blue/white) the 3rd wire (orange/white or white/orange) does not need to be connected.
Have you tested the socket for dial tone?

chillyyyy
Hi a good idea is to use network cable (ethernet) put router near master socket and run ethernet cable from router to your computer. That will get rid of the extension and give you a better connection also comes in various sizes have a look on ADSL Nation LTD.

Re: re,what wires to use when running an extention
If you have an NTE5 and use a filtered faceplate to isolate any other extensions, use CW1308 or CAT5e cable for the extension (or the NTE2000 BT Extension Kit) the results should be barely noticably different from the test socket unless the extension is VERY long/next to noisy equipment/cabling. If the extension is solely for a router & it is feasible to plug the router into the master socket then as above, you could run an Ethernet cable from the router to the PC.
