No Master Socket but old Bakelite Box fitted.
Hi all
New on here so hello to all.
As title shows I have no Master socket at the end of the BT cabling, just an old Bakelite Box and after that a lead which just ends in an extension socket. I assume this is non BT as no embossing on box lid.
Also been checking extension cable and this has been cut and twisted together....
Would it be legal for me to remove the bakelite box, replace it with something more modern and fit a Master (is that a NTE5 ?) Socket in a different location.
Or would it be better to contact Sky (or BT), as line rental goes to Sky and have a new line fitted by them?
Thanks in advance
Mark

It isn't illegal, it can be deemed against the T&C's of the line provision. To replace the old junction box you would use a BT80A, then use CW1308 cable to run to an NTE5 socket.
