I've tried the test socket, wasn't really much better as mentioned above I seemed to sync at +500kbps more
I'm not really fussed about gaining 500kbps, I was initially thinking fitting a NTE5 would maybe help me gain a few mb but it doesn't look so!

Fitting an NTE5 in itself will not improve your speed, but fitting a filtered faceplate to it will give you the extra 500k and will also isolate your extension which could cause intermittent interference. Get one from RunitDirect, you are guaranteed the best as opposed to eBay which may be cheaper, but not have the same quality.

Please note fitting an NTE5 with bell wire filter IF you have extension wiring can improve speed.(same concept as ADSL faceplate or Broad Band Accelerator although the two work in different ways!!).

Only if you have the bellwire connected, which the OP does not.Please note fitting an NTE5 with bell wire filter IF you have extension wiring can improve speed
