I'm thinking about replacing the cable between the master socket which is downstairs to the socket upstairs which my computer and phone is connected too.The reason is that it's 20 years old,not routed very well and looks tatty.I've looked on the web but i thought i'd get some advice ie.best place to buy cable and is cat5e the right cable,is it worth replacing the faceplate's on both sockets and any advice on do the job of replacing the cable.
Just one thing that is confusing is i read on the net that i may not be allowed to replace the cable myself because BT may have ownership.
