To call sky or not to call sky...
Hi Folks
I have now been with sky in my new house for about 10 months.
I am on the sky max level and the telephone exchange has the Sky LLU equipment.
My question is this..
When i moved into the house the master bt socket had a "generic" adsl faceplate and as I am quite a bit from the exchange the 1.5Mbps connection was about as much as I could hope for.
Recently I bit the bullet and bought the adsl nation faceplate and exchanged that for the generic one which was in the master socket.
Should I now call sky and ask them to "un cap" me or would it be a waste of time - as the adsl nation facelplate appears to be - as the NM etc has not changed?
I have the nice black router before anyone asks
Upstream seems fine at 672 but I would LOVE to have something faster than 1.5Mbps downstream

What are you refering to when you say "generic" ADSL faceplate? One of these :-
?
These are what BT/Openereach would install, ironically the ADSL Nation faceplate you refer to is a "generic" Chinese made filter, anyone can get them & have their company name printed on them!run-IT-direct, For all your networking, ADSL & telecom requirements.

That's just what was on the master socket - I think I may have wasted my money by buying the adsl nation filter thinking it would help speed up the download connection - oh dear.

BT/Openreach still specify the Pressac manufactured faceplate as above, if BT can save some ££ they usually do, the Chinese filter is MUCH cheaper than the UK made Pressac filter.
