Moving mastersocket back to the front room!
Hi,
I moved my master socket from downstairs to upstairs and rerouted the outside cable to the bedroom window. I had to cut about 5-6ft off the cable so i didnt have loads over in the room. I have decided to put it back in the front room for various reasons. Only problem is i have cut it now.
What i need is some sort of outside junction box so i can connect the original cable in 1 end and then some new cable to go from that down the rest of the wall and then in the house.
I have got a 25 metre cable from ebay. The white stuff. Could i use that outside?
Any ideas on whats the best outside junction box aswell?
Will this affect my speed by having the join outside?

Re: Moving mastersocket back to the front room!
if the external cable is long enough then run it inside and put socket where it goes to and then use entention plug in cables available from diy electrical stores etc this shouldnt affect broadband much if its only a few meters get an internal junction box and use new white cable inside and put master socket where required
is my advice

oops, you wanted external junction box? personally i would just get the correct length of external grade cable to do the job without joins.

White cable is definitely internal use, the rubber covering is not made to withstand the elements of our weather you need Black dropwire getting an external box to join the cut wire is not recommended as this adds yet more chance for faults and noise on the line you need to get the drop wire replaced from the soffet down to the grd flr level not only this you are not meant to tamper with the external wiring as a customer you are only supposed to add or remove extensions to an NTE5.IF you ever suffer any problems you could be penalised for touching this external wire.......if you require BT to come out
