My router set up...
Hi guys
just before I get somebody over to sort out my cabling etc I just wanted to check with you guys if I really do need to get my set up changed (see pic)
Anyway basically its a recently built house and the master socket that BT gave the builders was this one with two sockets for each of our two lines. It has no test socket so I havn't been able to test anything. At the moment the line has to be capped to 768 kB when it can support 3mbps because otherwise it would just keep disconnecting. I've already been on the phone to sky and had to problem sent to BT but apparently there aren't any problems on my line...
So now the plan is to convert the existing 'master' socket into two separate NTE 5 ones and perhaps put a prefiltered faceplate on and see if that changes anything.
Thanks in advance
p.s. my internet just dropped out again while typing this out lol
edit: here are my router stats:

Re: My router set up...
Looking at the pic it seems you have extension wiring coming of these sockets?

Re: My router set up...
i'm not quite sure what you mean sorry. Basically one of the electrician guys opened the socket up before and took out some of the wires and connected to that random thing thats connected to the microfilter. The grey cable with loads of different coloured cables runs into the ground and the other grey cable goes to my router

Re: My router set up...
The grey cable to the right looks like CAT5? BT would not have installed that, can you take the front off the socket and post a pic? What is the blue pair of cable without an outer jacket connected to? To get the best stats you want :-
BT cable connected directly to NTE5 (BT Socket, Master, NTE5 Type)
Filtered faceplate fitted to NTE5 (BT ADSL Faceplate for NTE5 Linebox(NTE2000))
Router/modem plugged into filtered faceplate, any telephone extension(s) run off the back of filtered faceplate.(connected to 2,3 & 5, you don't need to worry about the bell wire(3) causing problems as the ADSL signal has already been split).run-IT-direct, For all your networking, ADSL & telecom requirements.
