Would like to say a big thank you to Brian69

Hi I would like to say a big thank you brian69 as he came round and fitted a new face plate for my phone socket. then we went for a couple of pints afterwards.

      here are my stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15359 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 18.0 db 10.5 db
Noise Margin 13.4 db 17.5 db

As you can see im being capped and Sky have told me my line can handle the full 16 megs so is it worth calling them to get it removed

      thanks

Can you live with the speed you have now ? Would an extra meg be worth it ?

I would personally. Give them a call on 08442 410515, say you have a slow speed and that you are capped slightly, and you should get the full 16 meg connection.

      Nice stats BTW

the reason it's showing that speed is prob down to the delays...a line configured to 16384kbps will sync at 15323kbps with delays at 32...get them changed to 8s and you'll see 16382kbps...

although, have to ask the question - you gonna miss 100KB/sec on downloads? you're already getting 1.5MB/sec!!!

      Hi Kevin.
I said IANTE would say leave well alone. My advice stands, leave the whole thing alone for a week, then if is is nice an stable you could contact Sky, but if it was me, I could not go through the pain of contacting Sky

Just curious, but how can you say for sure that you are being capped by sky with those stats you posted?

you can't - the line might be short enough that the SNR is high anyway!!

i was just saying changing delays does cnahge the sync speed...

It is a short, underground line, and the connection to the short internal run before the master, is not the normal "rats nest and jelly crimp" affair, but a very well fitted and wired junction tucked out of harms way in an external cupboard (I didn't fit it but I found it while checking there were no bougus extensions)
