      Faceplate and new Nte5 worthwhile?

      Hi,

Signed over to O2 Pro and called O2 today to get them to tweak the line and speed and am now getting a brilliant download and upload. Will buying a new nte5 master socket and a new filtered faceplate get me bedtter speed due to the better noise properties or am i wasting my money?

      Matt,
If you have no extensions, a faceplate will make little or no difference. If you have hard-wired in an extension then a filtered plate may give you a better result. I think it is unlikely as previous diagnosis suggested your main line is the problem and not your internal wiring.

Re: Faceplate and new Nte5 worthwhile?

I take it you don't already have an NTE-5 style master and if you have any extensions having one is useful for troubleshooting as you can remove easily isolate the wiring by unplugging the face.

If you do have extensions you could try disconnecting them and connecting your router into the master socket that you have. This will show you the absolute maximum your line is capable of. Then you will have an idea if fitting a filtered faceplate would be any use to you.

But as Isitme says if you have no extensions then there is no point in changing anything.

Re: Faceplate and new Nte5 worthwhile?

      Hi,

Im directly wired from outside into my nte5 . No extensions at all and just a filter connected to the front of the master socket. So a filtered faceplate wont help me then?

I had 2 o2 filters sent with the router and after swopping the filters i got a slight increase in speed which must mean the other filter was knackered.

No a filtered faceplate will be no benefit to you without any extensions to filter.
