Re: Master Socket and Extention Problems
A quick run through on how to wire your phones.
(1) The line enters your home either overhead or underground and connects to the back of your master socket at A and B. with the faceplate of the master socket removed, only the test socket should work, all other phone sockets in the house should be dead. Is this so?
(2) for extension sockets connect 2 on the master socket faceplate to 2 at the extension socket, 5 to 5 and 3 to 3 You can use any colours you like but I have given the standard ones.
(3) With plug in filters in place, you can disconnect the wire or wires to 3 at the master socket. all phones should now work correctly with the master faceplate back in place.

Is this so? If i remove my Faceplate only the test socket works
I will try the standard colours now, Should the main socket work if i don't connect it to the test socket?

Re: Master Socket and Extention Problems
With the faceplate removed from the master, only the test socket should work. All other sockets including the one on the faceplate itself should be dead.

Re: Master Socket and Extention Problems
I can have my wires like this and the internet and phones work down stairs from my master socket. So I'm guessing i don't need the green and blue wires in my socket? Correct? But i still can't get the upstairs phone to work. And the one in my bedroom has 2 orange and 4 blue and 4 green, I read some where you shouldn't add 2 into the same slot
1 and 6 are Blue
2 and 5 are Orange
3 and 4 are Green
1 and 6 are Green
2 and 5 are Orange
3 and 4 are Blue

Re: Master Socket and Extention Problems
Yes that is right, You only need connections to 2, 5, and 3. If you have got the down stairs phones working, then you need to trace where the wires run to the upstairs and check all the connections. You should not have more than two wires in each connection but there may be more.

Re: Master Socket and Extention Problems
Well the phone was working ok this morning until i started messing with it, I have tried nearly every combination and it still doesn't work. If my upstairs has 2 lots of leads I'm guessing thats from the main and the other phone upstairs to my phone socket, If i connect my 3rd socket(the one with 10 wires) would the phone then work?

Re: Master Socket and Extention Problems
You should reconnect all your extension sockets and all should be well. Remember it's 2 to 2 and 5 to 5 from the faceplate to all extensions, and from extension to extension.

Re: Master Socket and Extention Problems
I've connected the 2 extentions exactly the same as the master socket and none of them work
I'm totally stuffed

Sit down, have a coffee and think what you have done. If you really can't crack this, it may be time to "get a man in"
