Saturday is right the majority fo the people that call sky up and say that they have a problem with their broadband when they don't the only thing that they have a problem with is their extension cables and this happens everyday and i have to explain this to people everyday that extension cables are not designed to use with broadband.

especially not with sky broadband, just because the sky router (the only one they will support) has difficulty differentiating between the ADSL signal and background noise doesnt mean extensions cant be used, rather sky should supply quality cable but i suppose its cheaper to say 'dont use extensions'?

Re: High Speed RJ11, will it reduce noise?

For instance i had a customer on the phone the other day that was using an extension and his line had a whole load of errors and the upstream and downstream and the downstream speed on his line was 620kbps and upstream 128kbps and the actual snrs were both below 7 so i asked him to plug into the mastersocket and to remove the extension so he did that and now he has a sync speed of 8192kbps downstream and 416kbps upstream and the downstream actual snr is 10 and the upstream 29 so if that does not tell you what extensions are capable of then i don't know what will.

Jonny1310 if extensions are such a problem and affect sky services so much, then surelythe actual service should be problem free, or for the majority of people! Why do you have virgin broadband, surely you know how to get a decent bandwith(learnt it on your two day course) Shows how much trust you have in your own firm!

No i am still in a contract with virgin and have been from i started with sky so that is why i am on virgin. And excuse me you do not have to be cheeky to me considering you do not know how much training we get and you do not no how many problems are resolved by removing extension cables and sky have a million customers and about 5% of them actually have a problem with there broadband so that is quite good so think about what you are saying before you be cheeky to someone you do not know.

Well with the support you get through sky, it would be more useful to ask my german shepherd to fix it! Well he is actually pretty clever, more than the majority of sky staff

c'mon guys be polite, sky staff who troubleshoot on this forum are going above and beyond what is expected from them in their job description, we should appreciate that.
