Bare minimum cables!!
Hey all,
I was wondering which cables are necessary (as bare minimum) to run my phone and broadband.
I have a standard BT faceplate/socket, of which I run my ADSL filter out of the MASTER Socket.
I am aiming to reduce interference and improve my speed so I want to know which wires I can detach from their connectors so to get rid of anything that I don't need!
(I know the blue and blue\white are needed for the phone (voice)...so which one/s do i need for broadband (data) to come through my line!)
This pic is for illustration purpose only. This is not my socket!
Thanks in advance.

Re: Bare minimum cables!!
only cables attached to pins 2 & 5 are needed, so you can remove them from the back of the removable plate (as in above pic) if you use your router in there normally...

Re: Bare minimum cables!!
Hi,
I currently have NO cables plugged into the back of the removable faceplate. I never have!...I just have it removed and plug straight into the Master Socket. To be honest...as soon as the BT engineer left i put the removable plate in my kitchen draw, for safe keeping!!
So if i unwire everything and just have cables 2 & 5 plugged into the master socket, then i will be able to use my phone and Sky BB, with no problems...and minimal interference???“The most overlooked advantage of owning a computer is that if they foul up there's no law against whacking them around a bit.” - Porterfield

Re: Bare minimum cables!!
The BB uses the same lines as the voice side of the system, you only need those 2 wires for both services. I really do not advise constantly using the test socket though just in case it gets damaged in any way.

Re: Bare minimum cables!!
Or you could replace the BT faceplate with a shiny ADSL Nation XTE2005, and it will look even neater, no dongle required!
