Had a wee look at the line there was like 500 snapshot errors but compared to what was downloaded that's more or less nothing.

I thought the errors would be low, and at last my line and speeds are back to normal.

Thanks and have a Merry Christmas.

      Re: Going bald slowly......

I have the same problem. Any advice how to get this fixed without multiple phone calls/visits?

I get an OK (not really happy) connection when not using the phone, but when I try to use the telephone, the amount of static and noise is so bad you can hardly hear the other person sometimes. After using the phone, ADSL has usually disconnected and then re-connects at a much lower speed for a while.

I think it is a long term problem with my line because it happened for years with my old ISP as well, but I assumed it was my internal wiring. On moving over to Sky recently I have re-done all my house extension wiring and that didn't fix it. Now I have done the following tests which I think show it is a problem at the exchange, or with my line from the exchange.

      1) Disconnected all extension wiring from the back of the master socket faceplate so there is nothing else connected apart from...
      2) Sky router plugged into the ADSLnation filtered faceplate, fixed line telephone handset plugged into the faceplate as well.
      4) Tried using a different phone.
      5) Tried using a different Sky router (bought one on ebay)
      6) Also tried plugging both into the test socket, and tried 5 different filters, 2 different ones supplied by sky, one by BT, and two different ones supplied by Solwise)

After doing all these, the same fault appears in every case. When router is connected, noise on phone line and connection lost.

If any of you sky bods know what I should say when I phone... There is another pair coming in the BT line to the exchange because there is another unused line coming into the house. What I am hoping for is to get BT to test both pairs and determine which one is cleaner, and to replace the old BT terminal box on the front of the house, and the wiring from that box into the master socket.

By the way.. great site this. I have learnt a lot about broadband reading other posts.

      Re: Going bald slowly......

I just had a BT engineer come out to fix the line. He plugged his tester in and said the line was perfect. He told me that his supervisor also ran some tests on the line from the exchange, the full range of tests apparently and it all checked out fine. He did accept that when the router was connected, even via a filter to the test socket, then there was a lot of noise on the voice line, but that is just to much technology he said and nothing to do with the line or exchange.

      Help....

      Re: Going bald slowly......

      You now have 2 options.

Get BT to re-route your line back to the exchange (new line) just in case the old one has water in it or intermitant fault...

      And/or

Get Sky to order what is called a TPS at the exchange.

I would call sky back and explain to them BT's findings and your not happy and get them to do a TPS.

      Regards.
