XTE 2005 filtered faceplate, question
I need help with the following, to find out if this setup would work.
O.K, i have got extensions running around the house and the modem is connected to one of them at the moment, now i am installing the XTE 2005 filtered faceplate and i have been told by a friend that i can use the pairs of wires that havn't been used yet.
Now i would like to now if using spare wires in the extensions, and using these for the ADSL singal would work, i don't think it would but does anyone think that this would work.
Just for your information, there is a extension that goes from the master socket, upstairs to my parents room then a second extension going from that socket into the office where the modem is, then an extension going into my room, using this setup would the setup i have stated work or not.
Urgent help need with this, advice greatly welcomed by anyone who can help me with this.
Thanks.....

Re: XTE 2005 filtered faceplate, question
It would not be a good idea to use some unused pairs.
Firstly it means that ADSL signal would be running all the way along your current extension wiring, just the same as it does already so there would be little to gain.
Secondly the unused pairs are probably not connected all the way through from the master socket to the other extensions.
To achieve the best results you need a dedicated ADSL extension using twisted pair cable running the shortest possible distance.adslnation
