      Re: Telephone extension wiring help

Could we just re-cap - You have got one of THIS type of faceplates - You have connected the wires leading to your phone socket to pins 2 and 5 and the wires leading to your ADSL socket to A & B. If you have it should work.

There is only one problem I can see and that is you are using a filter to connect to the ADSL enabled socket. If you are taking an extension from the rear of the ADSL faceplate you can't use a filter on the other end as it is already filtered. - What happens if you plug directly into the ADSL socket on the faceplate?

      Re: Telephone extension wiring help

Yes I do have that faceplate and i'm not using a filter. It doesn't matter whether I plug the ADSL into the ADSL socket directly or use the ADSL extension, still the same speed.
I've now tested the master socket and that is only giving me 1mb! Now i'm confused!

I think I will contact my ISP to check if my router has re-syncd at the wrong speed, can't see no other explanation unless you know of one?

The only way to tell if you have internal wiring problems is to remove the faceplate and plug the filter directly into the Test socket. See what you sync at, you may have to reboot the router after you plug in.

Should have added, don't plug the phone in when you check.
