      Help plz

      when i removed my master socket face plate i noticed that there were only 2 wires in the actual bt socket the colours were white and orange and white,does anyone know if this is ok

      The colour of wires going to the extensions can be anything you like, as long as the same colours are connected to the wallbox at the other end. It really depends on who wired it in. There's a BT convention for wiring in the drop cable, but after that it is a free for all. I guess these two are connected to terminals 2 and 5? If your extension works, that's OK. The actual BT drop cable is wired into the back of the fixed wall box. If you unscrew that, you should see the standard wiring system, usually blue/blue-white to A and B with orange ring wire to 3. Any other wires in the drop cable may or may not be connected. Many people disconnect the orange ring wire and any others, just leaving the blue/blue-white to A and B. The ring wire is basically redundant these days. The A and B voice signals go to terminals 2 and 5 on the faceplate when it's plugged in. This is where the extension is connected (as yours is).
