      External cabling

      Hi all,
want to put a adsl extension into my loft. The easiest way is to run a cable from the master socket externally to my loft where my router will be placed. Does anyone know if you can purchace external cat5/6 cable. I was looking at using exteranl phone cable, is there a better alternative?

      Thank you

      Steve

Screwfix beats 'em all. Check out Data Cable - Buy quality Data Cable at Screwfix.com

Of course there's 5 p/p on top but if there's a local depot they sell over the counter too. They also sell RJ11/RJ45 connectors, crimping tools and punch down gizmos.

      Re: External cabling

How do you wire in Cat 5 cable? Is it the same as telephone cable, IE IDC punch tool?

      Cheers

      Re: External cabling

you need a crimper (ebay cheapest) unless you are wiring into a wall mounted box in which case yes.
