Phone Socket Wires + Better speed

      Hi

I remember reading somewhere to get a better connection you have to remove some wires out of the main socket as they are not needed (orange one i think).

Which wires do i actually need to remove asi dont wanna pull out the wrong ones. I have a master socket downstairs then to extensions in 2 bedrooms (which were built in when the house was made).

I am using one of the built in extensions upstiars.

      Hope someone can advise

      Thanks

      sure....

      1) Unscrew the front pannel off your BT socket to expose the wires.

      2) Gently Pull out wires 1, 3, 4 & 6 leaving 2 & 5 plugged in.

      3) then screw face plate back on

Dont cut the wires or anything just incase they are ever used, lol i very much doubt it but just in case

The cable shown looks to me like CAT5 type, with twisted pair cores. Go to the main socket and see which wires in this new cable are connected. There should be two or maybe three. Two will be fitted to connectors 2 and 5. These are the important ones. The third (ring) wire may be connected to 3. If this is the case, you can safely disconnect wire 3. If no wires are connected at the main socket, then fit a twisted pair to 2 and 5 as shown in the diagram above. A twisted pair has matching colours eg. A Blue wire and a white with blue bands.
At the other end, fit the corresponding wires into connectors 2 and 5 in the extension socket. That gives you a new phone socket, but it's not the best set up for running ADSL through. If you wish to run your router via this extension there's a better way.

I totally agree with 'JaXanim', if you want to have an internet connection near the extension socket there is a much better way to do it.
