extensions work with NT5 faceplate removed?
I recently moved house and noticed the faceplate on my NT5 master socket was missing, HOWEVER two double socket extensions in bedrooms still work?
I have an issue with the broadband going up and down every 20-30 seconds (light on router remains on)
My question is does anyone think that perhaps the wiring was messed with before hand because my understanding was that when u removed the faceplate u disconnected any extensions in the house...I know fek all about telephone wiring so I may be wrong
Any thoughts?SKY BB MAX

Re: extensions work with NT5 faceplate removed?
Removing the faceplate on the master will disconnect any hard wired extensions.
If it doesn't then the extensions have to be connected further upstream i.e. the socket isn't the master and that's elsewhere, or someone has (foolishly) spliced into the line somewhere.
Can you follow the extension wiring back to where they join the main line or are they buried in the wall?

Re: extensions work with NT5 faceplate removed?
the two double sockets sit flush with the wall and tbh look like they came with the house, what I think is the master socket is definately identicl to the master socket I had at my old house, except the removable plate is missing leaving the test socket as the only connection. Had a hunt around and no obvious other sockets. Also only one socket in each of the two double socket extentions works, which is odd.
Will have another search when I get homeSKY BB MAX
