Extension From Master
Hey
i am thinking of moving my router upstairs, currently it is down in my study via a extention cable (as our existing diy extention doesnt work with broadband, why i dont know)
i am wondering what i need to buy for the broadband to work upstairs (special cable? i dont know)

Mine works through a standard B&Q extension kit and still downloads at a good speed. I've also connected it through one of those long extension "reels". Doesn't seem too fussy to me.
Others will advise as to wiring which is better no doubt.

buy some CAT5E networking cable, cut the ends off if it has them, and just use one of the pairs, two wires!

edwardw is correct. Use CAT5 cable to connect your master socket to the router. Just use one of the twisted pairs in the CAT5. At the master end, connect to terminals 2 and 5 (standard BT master socket) or terminals A and B (NTE-2005 type master socket). You'll need an RJ11 socketed extension box to take your router feed. Use as short an RJ11/RJ11 cable as possible.
Any phones stuck into the BT socket will require filters.
