Phone Extension Doesn't Ring
I was running Sky Connect via a phone extension and dangley filters. Old ring wire was disconnected throughout and apart from low ADSL speed, everything worked. Recently, I fitted an NTE-2005 faceplate and from this, wired a modem connection in CAT5e. My broadband speed has doubled, but now the old phone extension voice is OK, but doesn't ring. The extension comes from terminals 2 & 5 on the faceplate and the modem from A & B. The main phone rings OK, but I thought the NTE-2005 faceplate would see to the phone extension ring system?

Re: Phone Extension Doesn't Ring
You will need to reconnect the ring wire as your phones are the type that need a separate ring signal. Previously your microfilters were creating a ring signal, now you have removed them you will need to allow the NTE-2005 to generate the ring signal.

Re: Phone Extension Doesn't Ring
You shouldn't need to disconnect the ring wire if you've fitted a filtered faceplate.
Reconnect the ringwire or, (this might work), plug the non ringing phone into a microfilter. Using a microfilter as well as the faceplate won't hurt and if I remember correctly they have a ring capacitor.

Re: Phone Extension Doesn't Ring
OK, I added a filter module to the phone extension and it now rings fine (so, learned something new there). Anyway, another thing I noticed is the main phone continues ringing if the call is answered on the extension. It rings for several seconds, even though the voice exchange is in progress. The main phone is one of those radio jobs with a docking station plugged into the master socket. Any ideas on this?

Re: Phone Extension Doesn't Ring
Just a "feature" I believe of some Dect phones. On a set I used to have the melody rings would do this but the plain ring wouldn't. Seems that, at least on the model I had, once it started to play a tune it took a couple of seconds to stop.
The problem was worse if a standard phone in the system was answered rather than one of the Dect phones.
