@ XYZ:
I noted you said you didnt want to put a network card inside the pc, - seriously, this would be the best option.
It really really is simple.
Use a cross head screw driver to undo the 2 screws securing the side of your case, take it off.
Inside you will see a bunch of components, a big fan, and lots of dusty fluff.
You will see some creamy colored slots, - these are pci slots.
at the back of the case, you will most likely see some metal covers for each individual pci slot, - just pop one of these out, watch your fingers, - can be sharp!
Buy a pci network card, it will cost about £10.
The card simply plugs into one of the pci slots, - it will only go in 1 way, - there is a little area at the top of the pci card to secure it with a screw.
Pop the case side back on.
Boot up windows, and it should work straight away, windows will likely install your drivers for you. Easy.
Computers are not as fragile as people think, - just don't be silly with the components, and all will be ok.
any problems or questions, - private msg me, - im happy to go over anything again, and make sure it goes ok for you.Last edited by ricopico; 24-07-07 at 01:15 AM. Reason: spellings

Re: Where can i buy cat cable and tool and connectors
that was good sound advise, BUT if you're still wanting ethernet etc I'd strongly recommend visiting Maplin's-they seem to know all about pc's and sell ethernet different lengths with RJ45 plugs inb both ends which is what you'll need.
You don't use USB 2 ports for ethernet cable but on the back of your pc you'll see what looks like phone sockets but wee bit larger (only way I can describe them)-thats ethernet port-like the ones on the router-one end goes into router and other into the identical port on back of your pc.
I know this is hard wired conenction but if you're not quite sure about taking the side off your pc and delving into its innards, then I think this is the way to go.
Good luck which ever way you choose.
