      Basic microfilter issue

      This is my first post on this great website.

      Sorry if this query is totally basic, but i am new to sky, and also sorry if it has been answered elsewhere (had a search but could not find the answer).

      I live in a studio flat and so only have one phone socket. I just got sky tv, and also sky broadband. The problem is that the phone socket has a microfilter coming out of it - attached to it is the Netgear router and my landline phone. The question is how do I also attach the phoneline from the sky box so I can get sky interactive services, given that I only have one phone socket (and hence only one microfilter)?

      Sky were hopeless when I tried to get the answer. I presume it would be some kind of splitter - tried to find one on the web, but to no avail. Can sometime tell what it would be called, what it looks like, and where I can get it from.

      Sorry for the amateurish question!

      Hi - you need something like this which both your phone and sky box plugs into. You still need to make sure you use the filter though.
      ACP&D Limited - Phone cables & adaptors
      you should be able to get one from any decent diy store
      cheers and welcome

      Thanks Dave

      The one attached i presume.

      So I would plug the microfilter into the phone socket on the wall, and then the splitter into the microfilter? The modem is plugged into the microfilter, and the phone and sky box into the splitter?

      Cheers

      Er - your description sounds okay but that pic you have attached is for a phone / modem splitter. As you already have the adsl filter which has two outlets - one for phone one for router just get the two way phone splitter and plug this into the filter then phone and sky box into that

      cheers

      Hi,

      Will the above setup work?
      i.e.

      phone socket -> microfilter
      (a) -> modem/router
      (b) -> 2-way phone splitter
      (1) -> phone
      (2) -> Sky box

      Or do you need 2 filters?

      i.e.
      phone socket -> 2-way phone splitter
      (1) -> microfilter (a) -> modem/router (b) -> telephone
      (2) -> microfilter (a) -> empty (b) -> Sky box

      legend:
      (a) = microfilter ADSL socket
      (b) = microfilter Telephone socket
      (1) = 2-way telephone splitter socket number 1
      (2) = 2-way telephone splitter socket number 2

      Thanks for any info on this topic :-)

      I think dholdi's suggestion is correct.
      BTW, I think your legend is wrong.

      (b) -> 2-way phone splitter
      (1) -> phone
      (2) -> Sky box

      Re: Basic microfilter issue

      What if you have sky multi-room (i.e. two boxes)?

      The way I have it at the mo is making my broadband run like a snail.....

      p.s. sorry if this is a dead thread
