Master socket
where is the master socket then m8?? behind my face plate is one socket at the bottom is that the master socket or test socket i have only one socket in my flat

When people say "master socket" they normally mean the first (or only) socket in the house.
For sockets installed in the last 15 years or so the master socket is likely to be a NTE5 linebox. If you plug into the front of this then that's into the master socket. If you unscrew the faceplate and pull it away then there's a hidden socket called the test socket. If you plug into this you are using the test socket.
The difference between the two is that when plugging into the master socket, any other wiring/extensions etc are also connected. Removing the faceplate disconnects these so it is a direct connection to the BT line only.
