Try rebooting the router with a pen or similar in little hole the back, or alternatively turn it off for a while and see if that changes anything.

Re: upstream and downstream running at 128kps

I was just trying to find previous posts on this haapening to other people which it has. Some appear to have been capped at this ridiculous speed.

Try looking at these posts to see if there is anything you have not covered yourself.

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/askin...g-128kbps.html

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...nect-128k.html

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/speed...tead-8meg.html

There are a few others around if you do a search in the forum foe '128 down'

Hope you can find something to help but it may be a case of getting through to Tier 3

Edit: Just had a look through some of the previous posts and it seems that sky may cap some lines at 128kbps while faults are being investigated. Think your best bet may be to get through to Tier3 and ask them to remove it.

Re: upstream and downstream running at 128kps

      thanks mate,

i have read thru these threads but they all seem to have had the same problem i.e their connection capped. i spoke to tier 3 on sunday and they insisted that they hadnt capped mine. and that they've re-calibrated(?) my line and said i should be getting 4mb. obviously im not!
i also plugged directly into the test socket to see if it made any difference, but unfortunately it didnt.
im running out of ideas to be honest.

Re: upstream and downstream running at 128kps

Sorry Trevor, I'm a bit stumped too.

Have you tried running the TCP Optimiser? The first post in this thread will show you how to use it.

Apart from that, all I can suggest is to wait until later in the day when more people have looked at your thread. They may suggest something I haven't thought of.

Re: upstream and downstream running at 128kps

      thanks anyway lazarus.

just got off the phone to sky's idiots at tier 1. apparently they're re-re-re calibrating my line.

i demanded to speak to tier 3 but was told they're not allowed to transfer you thru. (im sure i get the same women every time i call them)
im now a priority case, which probably means they will call me some time this week! getting mighty annoyed with their customer service.
thay arent even prepared to knock my package from max to min while its resolved.
      grrrrrr.

Yes, it is possible, but this really does have all the hallmarks of a Sky problem. Do you have another router you could try?
