    adsl light on but not connectioning

      adsl light on but not connectioning

      As it took sky 5 months from the activation date to get me live ( exchange fault) I had already obtained connection username ( and upgraded software, to use wireless function of the netgear on existing BB on other line )

      Finally all working fine with sky BB using either netgear or a usb modem

      netgear also works fine with BB still on other line

      But suddenly now its just hangs
      Adsl light solid ( on either modem) to fails to make connection to "remote " error 721 on speedtouch ( on netgear connection test - Disconnect / LCP is allowed to come up)

      ( triple checked I'm input the correct sky details for connection) ... anyway would expect invalid password if I've done that wrong
      ---
      Is it possible that sky know's the box is hacked ?

      Will tech help know when they go thro' the process

      Is it risky / worth trying to reflash it with sky's firmware

      Payless

      I'm getting a similar problem. It connects for no more than 30 minutes then goes down and can get the 'LCP is allowed to come up' for a few minutes for a few hours. It's unusable in it's current state.
      Sky tech should call me back in the next 48 hours.

      This always happens to me when our central heating kicks in at night. If I get the error where it will not connect, and all my stats are at zero. I start with run/ipconfig/renew all and then exit, and when I get connected I use Mognuts utility to set noise levels back to 7 or 8. I do find the boiler actually drops my noise margin to 1.5 oops!! Then I cannot reboot. It usually takes a couple of minutes after using the Run facility then all is well again. The router appears to be very susceptible to noise issues.

      I have been sent a list of instructions / test to carry out

      so guess I've have to reflash back to original sky firmware

      That would make huge sense especially given that it take only a couple of minutes to flash the router. Using the Sky router with its firmware should always be the first test when diagnosing problems.

      In answer to your question, "Is it possible that sky know's the box is hacked ?", yes it is. Pre-empting your next question, "Do they actually know that it has been hacked?", if they trawled through their systems specifically looking, yes, probably. "Do they specifically look?" Now that's the real question! There is no indication that they do given that they have never AFAIK contacted anyone about it. However, given the popularity of this site and the fact that flashing the router is general knowledge these days, I wouldn't be surprised if they are "keeping an eye" on it. Despite the astonishing paranoia of some Sky BB users (you know who you are ), I can't imagine Sky calling the thought police quite yet.

      !!!!I think i'm fixed!!!!!!

      Sky never called me back so I rang them again last night and found out that the call was closed. I told the non english speaking analyst to open a new call and put me straight through to T3 which was difficult as he ignored everything I said.

      After 30 minutes I spoke to a T3 guy who seemed to know what he doing.
      I explained the problem and that I was on the router looking at the connection page (he didn't seem to mind this) see "LCP IS ALLOWED TO COME UP"

      After trying a few things (for 30 mins) he noticed that the auth server had 2 snail sessions against my login (mac address). As soon as he cleared these it connected and appeared to be more stable.
      I'll check it tonight.

      Still broken.

      Drops off every 10-30 mins without fail. ADSL light stays on throughout.

      It looks like and authentication issue. If they don't fix it by Monday then i'm off.

      Not just me getting this then Speed I got from Sky was just under par but the line ran mostly ok, recently it's been up and down in speeds (high 4's low 2's) and totally dead.

      Yesterday I rang Sky Tech after 30 mins of unplugging wires, changing all the micofilters, rebooting the router, checking the imac etc etc.

      10 mins of being told to do what i'd already done and knew to do years ago got me 'you'll get a phone call within the next 5 days' ..

      45 minutes of a lost connection, reported similar events and it's wait 5 days and I know you can easily be forgotten about when it comes to returned calls.

      I'm having to sort my line connection out daily and the line's supposed to be for online gaming, the pc's lucky to still be in one piece as it's gets so frustrating when the line goes dodgy .. again.

      don't hold your breath on the callback.

      Call them back after 10pm and ask to be put through to t3. You might have a 10 minute wait but it'll be worth it.

      It's fixed --- I moved back to BT.
