      New Connection on 8mbs

      Guys

Apologies, you have probably had this a million times already.

Switched to Sky today, all gone Ok, download speeds not too bad.

Wanted the Max product and advised circa 13.5 speeds available.

Currently router shows 8mb (G.DMT connection!) which is common on looking at the posts.

Here are my stats....any reason why i can't get better (i'm 290 meters from the exchange).

      Any help appreciated!

With those stats you should be getting the full speed. Get on the phone to sky and dont give up until they move you to ADSL2+

      Re: New Connection on 8mbs

      hi
i think sky are doing this as standard ie 8 meg max ,my mate has just got sky and been told he's on the wrong side of the exchange for max and can only get 8meg ,he stays 100 metres from me and checking his stats he should get 10-12meg when he phoned he got the line being stable etc etc ,i wonder if it's to allow more peeps onto their exchange ie if 2 people have 12 meg connections then in theory they use 24 meg [i know they dont but just look at maths ]however if 3 people can only get 8 meg then thats one extra [if you know what i mean ]or doesn't it work like that ?

      Re: New Connection on 8mbs

Thanks guys, I will give them a call. They did estimate my speed prior to connection at 13.5 so hoped for better than my current speed (appreciate they only give an estimate).

Out of interest, what in the stats shows that I could get more than 8?

      Thanks

The line attenuation of 12db (shown as Attn)

go to DSL ZoneUK - How fast can I get on ADSL2+? and pop it in there.
