      Re: best database to use?

For people who want everything bundled, e.x. Everything to be installed together; php, mysql, perl, ftp?

      Then you should try Apache2Triad

Yep, MySQL works fine in phpBB but you are recommended NOT to give the PMA (phpMyAdmin) login to anyone!

One thing with Apache2Triad is that it locks everything for root/shell access, So that means only YOU can get to the PMA and stuff as it needs to connect via 127.0.0.1

      Just to clarify,
mySQL is the Database - The one you will select on the phpBB installation menu

PMA - is like a Control Panel, from there you can export the database, do backups.. delete databases...
