      Internet Explorer 7 & Sky Broadband

      I am currently waiting for the Sky package to arrive. I use Internet Explorer 7with XP Pro. I have received a leterr with a user name and password, but am unable to log onto the Sky Website with them at present.

      I read somewhere on the forum that someone had to uninstall IE 7 and install IE 6 before Sky Broadband would connect.

      Is there an inherent problem with IE 7 as far as Sky Broadband is concerned?.
      Has anyone any experience of using IE 7 with Sky Broadband.
      I would be grateful for any information whilst I am still up and running.

      a) IE7 works fine
      b) the portal will only work once your line is activated (and then it can be 24-48hrs after)

      Further to this I received a reply by email from Sky themselves and this is their official line:

      "At this current time sky broadband do not offer support for IE7, it does pose some faults with the email service, until such times as sky obtain the codes required from Microsoft IE6 is as far as the technical support that we offer."

      Well their portal works fine for me on IE7, but then again even if it didn't it wouldn't matter as the portal doesn't offer much. you can access your email thru outlook. If you really want webmail, then googlemail is the better option. The other features on the portal aren't worth the effory logging in for.

      It's a real let down when you get in. There's:

      some headlines from Sky News,
      section for your email,
      section for storing your email addresses
      section for storing your photo's (which is provided by Online digital photo printing | Snapfish so you could there direct if you wish)
      a section for videos taken from the main sky website
      some random links to external website
      TV guide which just links thru to the main sky website.

      I find it really strange that so many members are having problems with IE7 and SkyBB, I have been using it for a long time and since the final was released never had any issues with it that I can recall, in saying that I normally use Maxthon anyway.

      I have to agree after 4 months without access to the portal now they have fix all the problems and I can get on it I though well that not really worth the effort anyway, very disappointed.

      I have been using my email client for access to my mail account and will just continue to do so.

      Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      After receiving the original reply from Sky concerning IE7 I asked for further clarification

      Their reply (28.1.07)is as follows:

      Thank you for contacting Broadband Technical Support and I am sorry to learn of your issues.

      Please be assured we are able to support IE7 and even package it out with our routers.

      The problem we have with IE7 at present is in sending emails, there is no 'back' button when trying to send attachments, which we are working a fix for in conjunction with Google.

      Hi no problem with IE7 or using the email with it either.

      When I log on net with IE7 it says on top of page internet explorer provided by sky broadband
