Re: Internet Explorer 7 & Sky Broadband

I have had the reverse experience. I have a very old PC running W98+IE6. Internet access was OK until a couple of weeks ago. Then some sites (e.g. Google) became inaccessible. Others (e.g. Sky) still worked OK. It looked like Sky's DNS servers were playing up, but I could not find many similar current complaints about this on the user forums. I spoke to Sky tech, who said that they did not support W98, which is fair enough.

So I decided to install Firefox 2, although it is rather sluggish on such an old PC. Internet access is now back to normal. I suspect that whatever Sky have done to get IE7 access working reliably has upset IE6 on W98.

Re: Internet Explorer 7 & Sky Broadband

Your problem sounds more like a problem with IE than Sky. This thread is more about problems with using IE on the Sky portal website, so any changes they made to correct that would just be changes to their website.

IE is just an application that uses the network, so Sky wouldn't need to make any changes for people to be able to use it on the Sky network. They might need to make changes to their site so their site works in IE7, but they wouldn't need to make any changes which affects access to non Sky websites.

If Firefox 2 is a little slow, you might want to give Opera a try which I find is a little faster than Firefox.
