Can I use my "old" Netgear router if Sky router turns up too late?

Sorry for long title guys! But I've been given an activation date of 30/1/07 & after reading a few stories of missing or late routers I'm concerned that I'm going to be net-less for a period?

I currently have a DG834G that works just fine with Orange (aka Freeserve/Wanadoo).

I've had my two letters so far with passwords etc.

Thanks in advance for any answers

      In a nutshell, no.

Your Sky BB username and password are unique to the Sky router and until you have it in your hands, you will not be able to extract the username / password combo to enter into existing router and logon to Sky BB.

      Hi there,

First post - I am in exactly the sam position as VillaSC (same current router aswell).

Thanks for the info Amaboknaii, the question is then: is it possible to use my current router if i can find out my unique sky username and password? If yes, how would I find my username and password?

Thank you for you help and advice.

Re: Can I use my "old" Netgear router if Sky router turns up too late?

You can't get the username / password without having the Sky router in your possesion. Sky will not give you your username / pass as they only intend you to use their own supplied router. So as was said earlier, you cannot connect to the service with any other router until you have extracted the username and password from the Sky supplied router!
