For some reason the flash utility has problems detecting nforce built in lans. I never bothered looking for a solution to it, but may be worth a google and a post here if a solution is out there. I just used my other itel based pc to do it.

I can't imagine this would affect it as the update doesn't use IP, but just in case, have you tried disabling the firewall? If that's no good, what I would do next (TBH, I would have done this quite early - but that's just me!) is pop a network sniffer trace on (e.g. ethereal / wireshark) and see what's happening at the ethernet level.

      Stupid as its sounds

i kept closing the dos box with the 1st operation on cardosa's info

soon as i left it open - my device popped up ok

did it about 7 times - its simple once you figured it once, racked my poor brain for a day

      good luck
