      Additional router for solar batteries.

I have bought myself a battery system for my house that is charged by my solar panels. The battery controller has its own little Wi-fi router in it. The app that will tell me all the stats of my system needs to speak to my sky router to provide me the info on the app. Iíve set up everything that I can but itís not working. I think the sky router has some sort of security code that I donít know about or something else.
I donít know much about these things so bear with me. Please assume that I know very little indeed.

Does the battery controller broadcast its own SSID (Wi-Fi identity)?
If it does can you connect to it?
Once connected check if it is running a webserver by typing its IP address into your browser
      (probably http://192.168.0.1/).
Does the index page list available networks including your Sky router or have a link to another page that does?
If so, select your Sky router's SSID, input your router's password and click on connect.

Allow five minutes for it to connect then check your Sky router's web pages to see if it is connected.
If the app is running on a smart phone try using your mobile data allowance rather than Wi-Fi to check if it has access to your battery controller.

Re: Additional router for solar batteries.

      Hello Seawright,
I’ve given this a good go but I’m struggling at the first hurdle.
Yes the controller has its own SSID. Yes I can connect to it.
Web server, um, does 10.10.100.100 count? That’s what it says.
If I type either IP address into the browser it says it could not connect to the server.
The index page list does have the controller on it, that’s where I found the info above.
Here’s where I’m stuck. I am on my nice new iPad Pro. If I select my sky router’s SSID in settings then there appears to be nowhere to input another router. Was that the right page I was supposed to look at?
      Sorry, confusion reigns.

Re: Additional router for solar batteries.

When connected to the battery controllers Wi-Fi what is the IP address of your IPad?
Is the IP address of the router also listed?

How to find the IP address on an iPad

      1. Open your Settings app.
      2. Tap on "Wi-Fi."
      3. Tap on the network your iPad is connected to (one with a check next to it). This will pull up the information for the network and your iPad.
      4. The IP address will be listed in the second box, under IPV4 address.

      Hiya,
I’ve got an IP address in IPV4, IP 10.10.100.100 and router 10.10.100.254 for the controller.
      um, does that help?

Ok. While connected to the controller type http://10.10.100.254/ into your browser and see if you are presented with a webpage.
If so see if you can follow the remaining steps in my first reply.

Re: Additional router for solar batteries.

The problem has nothing to do with the Sky router. You should be able to establish a direct connection to the battery controller assuming that it is not faulty.
Try resetting the controller. Once it has rebooted re-connect to the battery controller using your Ipad.
Ensure that you are close enough to the controller to get good signal strength.

Once connected type http://10.10.100.254/ into your IPad's browser.
You should be presented with the controller's login page (admin & admin to log in).

Re: Additional router for solar batteries.

Right, ok. In that case shouldn’t I be able to see my sky router on a browser in this way, I can’t.
Also it makes it clear that the controller router will not connect to the internet.
I don’t know whether I dare try resetting the controller, I might not get it going again properly. I’m not gonna try until the batteries are fully charged anyway. It’s a 88% at the moment.

Re: Additional router for solar batteries.

You should be able to see your Sky router's SSID in your browser but only after you have logged in to the controllers website at http://10.10.100.254/ using the default username "admin" and password "admin".
