Yes - you have to download the standard Netgear firmware (latest version is 1.02.04). You can download it and an installation guide from here:

      http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/DG834GT.asp

The Sky-modified firmware is on the CD that comes with the Sky Netgear router should you wish to go back.

hey, I am moving to sky broadband(due to go online on 22nd), had had activation letters, etc. And have had the wireles router.

Am a new user to this forum, so bare with me.

If i went and downloaded the standard netgear firmware, and put it on the router, etc. I can change to username/password to my current plusnet service for the time being.

What would be the sky broadband settings? if i wanted to leave the netgear firmware on the router, or would i have to put the sky modified firmware back on once the activation date has gone through/passed.

What would be the sky broadband settings with netgear firmware?

      Re: Dg834gt Sky Router

I don't think there's evidence that switching to the Netgear firmware produces any benefits for Sky users.

To do it successfully you need the Netgear Recovery Utility -- simply trying to load the firmware into the Sky router will produce an error message.

      See tutorials on this site.
