Sagem F@ST 2304n Router Dropping Net Connection Randomly

My Sagem F@ST 2304n Router, which I've had since last October has recently started dropping my net connection randomly. However after rebooting my router everything starts working normally again. I was wondering if this is due to the fact that the Sky exchange is performing some kind of maintainance on their systems, or if there is something wrong with my Sagem F@ST 2304n Router?

Do you happen to have a PSU for another Router around? If you do, could I suggest that you connect it up to the Sagem 2304n if it's specifications are the same? Most PSUs for routers have the same specification and should it resolve the issue, then you should give Sky a friendly call and ask someone to send you a replacement.

No, I don't happen to have one. I think I will give Sky a call and see if they can help me with the problem.

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n Router Dropping Net Connection Randomly

I've called Sky about the problem, and explained to them what have happened. Apparently the sudden power cut my town experience around the middle of last month may have actually damage my broadband line settings. So they had me reset my Sagem F@ST 2304n Router and they have resetted my broadband line settings at the exchange as well. I will have to keep my router on for the 10 days so that the exchange can map the speed of my broadband connection correctly as usual.

Hopefully this will fix my problem. I didn't think a sudden power cut could damage my broadband internet line settings.

Well, I will keep you guys informed of my progress of this. Hopefully it will be of further help to other Sky Broadband subscribbers.

A power surge could have corrupted the memory or damaged the equipment when it was powered up again if it isn't correctly protected.

Of course the nature of the power cut itself could have caused problems.

At least someone is on top of things now.

The power cut actually damaged my surge protector, but luckly it was still within warrenty so I was able to get it replaced for free.

There are road works all over the place in the town where I live it's unbelieveable, they have a bad habbit of digging up the roads they have repaired the year before only to redo them all over again. But the other more damaged roads get ignored altogether it's insane how the council works in the stupid little town where I live. Hopefully, I will be able to more out of here and into some place better in the future.

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n Router Dropping Net Connection Randomly

Well, the same thing happened again. I just got of the phone with Sky, they are goin to send me another PSU. They said that my Router might have been damaged somehow by the sudden powercut.

I've just noticed that it drops the net connection around 11AM about the sametime the sudden powercut occurred during the middle of May.

The Sky Operator said that if the replacement PSU doesn't fix the problem, then I will have to run the restoration process for my Router. But I don't have the files, which came along with the installation demo CD.

Re: Sagem F@ST 2304n Router Dropping Net Connection Randomly

I have the original CD which was supplied with the Sagem 2304n but don't even bother trying to install the firmware on it as it won't work.

With all the grief over the dodgy firmware on the Sagem 2304n last year several members, including myself, tried to install it but failed. The router won't let you go backwards on the firmware versions.

If the PSU fails to resolve this issue, I would suggest that you try and blag a new Sagem 2504N instead.

Thanks, Scubbie. I think I will have to do that if the replacement PSU doesn't solve my problem. It's a shame really, I've had this router for about 8-10 months I think since my Netgear router bit the dust. If the damn road workers were paying attention to what they were doing at the time I probably won't have this problem.

I will keep you guys inform of my current situation as it goes.

Well, it's been over 7 hours since I've had my Sagem F@ST 2304n switched on and everything seems to be goin good. Is it strange that everything seems to be working just fine now?
