      Flash sky nergear DG934G router

      Dear forum,

please help me out, I want to use sky router for different ISP, but having problems in flashing it. Spent lots of hours reading posts, but no must write myself.

Tried different XP machines, w7 machines, static IP, flashing lights on router and so on.
When used his method: ::. Kitz - Sky router DG934G .::
it shows the same upgrade and current versions (222C) on this page
      http://www.kitz.co.uk/routers/images...4_firmware.png
and after that when I press upgrade it just does nothing, freezes.

I have tried this post as well:
      Flashing the sky router DG934G
After reboot firmware shows the same version V2.XXXXX....

What else should I do? Please help.

Have a look at this thread, most find it works with no problems. - http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/techn...rmware.html#36

Are you using the correct firmware for the upgrade?

      thank you, Isitme

it seems link was what I was looking for. Upgrade started and then bang 'blue screen of death' and after that router just blinking all lights. Tried different reset options but it did not help. Any suggestions? How do I get route to previous state? (except buying a new router).

Re: Flash sky nergear DG934G router

The blue screen may have bricked your router completely, which would be unusual for XP. All you can try is getting it back into flashing mode by switching of the power, hold in the reset and switch the power back on. Hold it in till the power and tick lights flash alternately then release. If it will not go into flashing mode, I don't think there is much else you can do,

Re: Flash sky nergear DG934G router

nothing works, I even tried this method:

RouterTech • View topic - Class II Router Repair

Nothing stops router from flashing all lights. PC just says that LAN is not connected. If anyone have any ideas - please post it in here. In a while time I will put it under the bed

      Thanks forum.

Re: Flash sky nergear DG934G router

      Don't bin it yet.

Can you get it into the flash recovery mode i.e. Two flashing lights. Buy pressing in the reset then power on.

Are you using XP? << Very important.
Are you connected to the router via a cable?
Have you installed and running the Netgear Recovery Utility?
If so does it see the router?
Do you have the correct firmware image for the router?

If it fails try clicking RmDrv.exe but it normally works without that.

I also turn off all firewalls even the XP one.
I also use Netgear firmware first then any other like DGteam after.

Re: Flash sky nergear DG934G router

Another way I have read but not used:

      step-by-step process.

      Files required

BackTrack Linux Version 4 ISO (bt4-final.iso, 1570 MB). Download here or via torrent.

•HP Windows Format Utility for USB Drive Key or DiskOnKey (SP27608.exe, 1.97 MB). Download here.

      •UNetbootin Version 442 (unetbootin-windows-442.exe, 4.31 MB). Download via here.

•nftp Emergency Reflash Tool (nftp.tar.bz2, 6 KB). Download via here using your preferred mirror.

•DGTeam DG834GT Firmware Version 1018 (DG834GT_V1.03.22_DGTeam_1018.zip, 43.0 MB). Download via here using your preferred mirror.

      Procedure

Browse through the modem/router config screens and note down any important settings.

•Unpack the HP utility and run HPUSBFW.exe to format a 2 GB (or greater) USB key to FAT32. Screenshot.

•Run UNetbootin and install BackTrack to the USB key. Screenshot.

•Copy nftp and your chosen firmware image file to the USB key root directory. Screenshot.

•Power off the modem/router for around 30 seconds and disconnect the ADSL cable.
•Start the modem/router in 'Test Mode' by powering up with reset button on the rear panel depressed. This is confirmed by alternating green Power and orange Test (tick) lights on the front panel.
•Reboot PC, enter BIOS setup and mark the USB key as the first boot device. Boot BackTrack Live from the USB key.
•BackTrack will start in a console screen, presenting a root@bt:~# prompt once complete. If you wish, you can further boot KDE (desktop) via the command 'startx' where you will need to load Konsole to issue commands. Screenshot.

•In your chosen console screen, issue the following commands (note that you can use the Tab key for directory or filename completion). Screenshot.

      Code:
      cd /media/cdrom
      cp nftp.tar.bz2 DG834GT_V1.03.22_DGTeam_1018_eng_adsldrv026.img ~
      cd ~
      tar xvjf nftp.tar.bz2
      ifconfig eth0 up
./nftp -u eth0 DG834GT_V1.03.22_DGTeam_1018_eng_adsldrv026.img•Fo llow the on-screen prompt to begin the flash process. Cross your fingers.
•Once complete, give the modem/router a few seconds to boot then hold the reset button on the rear panel for up to 10 seconds to perform a factory reset. This is confirmed by the orange Test light being illuminated.
•Boot Windows, point your browser to the modem/router config screen and set it back up.

Note that I already had BackTrack Linux on the USB key and you may well be successful with a smaller distro. I haven't put any more time into figuring out why it didn't work through Puppy Linux.

Re: Flash sky nergear DG934G router

I am sure I am using correct tools, anyhow now it is too late as at the moment the problem is what to do with bricked router, it gives no connection with PC (using LAN cable).
