      Hi
Make sure you have " broadcast ssid" and "enable wireless access point" ticked in wireless settings also make sure you click on save settings when making the chages.

      Re: wireless woes

You might want to try resetting your router by pushing a pin in the reset hole on the rear and holding it there for about 10 secs. Remember that the wireless key is all capital letters, no numbers.

Check that you are using the Windows Wireless Manager and not the adapter's manager as these are often next to useless.

      Re: wireless woes

It looks like your router may have a fault in the wireless side. Do you know anyone with a wireless laptop that could come in and check it for you? If it fails with the same message with another PC then it is a router fault. If this is the case report it to Sky, who will take you through several checks and if these fail, as they probably will, they should supply you will another router.

What OS are you using? When you try to select your network and connect does it prompt you for the key?
There is no p in Thomson.

on the bottom right of screen is now showing icon with the message"ralink wireless lan card disconnected"
This just means what it says, you are not connected. Right click this icon and select 'View available wireless networks' A pane will come up showing the networks available. Select yours and click Connect at the bottom of the pane. You should then be asked to enter the network key twice. Enter your key, remember the default is 8 capital letters, no numbers.

If you cannot connect, go into the wireless settings and change the security to WEP. Put a password in the box and click generate, choose one of the keys. Use this to enter when you are asked for your password.

If you still cannot connect, go into the router settings again and disable the security completely and see if you can connect.

As I keep telling users, don't believe Windows when it says your drivers are up to date. Go to the manufacturers site and get the latest drivers from there.
