      Unable to connect

      Hi there

I live in a house with 2 of my friends. We recently switched to sky and 2 of us have been unable to connect to the router without an ethernet cable. The remaining friend can connect to the router using his mac and I can connect through the router using my ipod but 2 of our laptops just wont connect. Ive tried disabling the WEP key and even with no security I still cannot connect. Does this sound like theres a problem with our laptops or that the router is playing up. We have the newset router which I think is the Sagem. Any help would be much appreciated

      Re: Unable to connect

To me it sounds like an issue with the laptops.

Have a read of this and see if it helps, it's not for your particular router, but the principles are the same.

      Re: Unable to connect

      what OS are you using?

As I have found Vista and Win 7 to be a major league pain in the bum as far as wireless goes.

There seems to be something going on with wireless adaptor and router incompatability with these 2 OS.

My wif'e's laptop refused to connect to my Belkin router even without any security yet it would to my neighbours Sky router.

So my advice is to turn off security etc at the router, turn on SSID and see if you can get them to connect and try all the channels you can as you may have a clash with somebody else.

If so turn security back on and see how it goes.

If not ask your neighbours to connect to their networks and see if you can get it to work on theirs.

In the end I bought a wireless access point and she runs her laptop off that.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Download and use Inssider(link below) to find out what channels are in use in your area. Set your router to a channel as far from those in use as possible.
