      Different Routers/Different Speeds

      Hi

I wanted a N router to replace the Sagem Fast router that was provided.

First I bought the D'Link 2740R. This router managed to sync at roughly 10mb with an attenuation of 41db. I returned this router as the wireless was disconnecting/lagging while using xbox live.

Ive now got a Netgear DGND3300 which syncs at 8mb with 43.5db.

I just want to know why the D'link synced at a higher speed and if its possible with the Netgear.

      Cheers

They use different chipsets, the Netgear has a broadcom chipset and the D'link uses a trendnet one. On most of SKY's systems the non broadcom chipsets sync higher, you can probably get the netgear syncing at the same rate by modifying the SNR using the DMT tool - I believe it is compatible I might be wrong you need to google this yourself.

Thanks mate! that tool worked a treat, and now I have it running at a stable 10mb.
