      how to use own router on sky

      i have found my user and pass thanks to this site :} but when i enter all the details i see the connection speed but no ip of any sort and still can't connect to the network anyone help me please. it is a bit much to ask on first post.

      Take it you read the non-Sky router FAQs? There might be other settings you're missing, or you've typed the username/password wrong

      Make sure you save the changes when you put in the username and password. It is better to copy and paste them, less chance of making a mistake.

      What Netgear router do you have, marklowe? Edit: Doh, DG834.

      Click "connection status" at the bottom of the router status page > followed by disconnect (let it refresh), then connect.

      Also, make sure your authentication is set to CHAP.


      Sky SR102 for VDSL & DGN3500 providing gigabit LAN and 802.11n.

      i would use a new router but im just not sure if i should has anyone done it changed and if so have they had any issues with it like cutting off disconnecting etc or any other strange issues

      You are unlikely to get any more speed. It is not worth the expense unless you need something you can't get with the Sky router, like Wireless N or QoS etc. No one has been penalized so far, as far as we know, but it is against the T&Cs so it could happen.

      yea but if it its against the terms conditions then why do people on this forum do it lol qos i would like to have as for the wireless well not bothered really gigabit connection is a must have not for the net but for streaming or file transfers sharing files over network
