Speed drops since signed up for Sky Talk

      Hi,

I've had sky max for around 2 year now. When i first connected, i was receiving speeds of around 2.5mb. The speed had held around the 2 - 2.5mb mark until 2 weeks ago.

About 2 weeks ago, i switched from BT to Sky's phone service, Sky Talk. Ever since then my internet has not be functioning properly.

The netgear V2 router sky uses has been displaying this on the login page and in reports:

      ADSL Link Down
      ADSL Training
      ADSL Link Down
      ADSL Training

It would switch between the 2 for hours on end.

I can only get it to connect by unplugging the line from the master socket and plugging it back in again, while the router is on. It would then give me these statisics:

      Download Speed: (Around 600kbs / Around 220kbs) Usually 220kbs
      Upload Speed: (200kb/s)

I'm not sure what they use to be but here are my ADSL stats now:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 621 kbps 248 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.5 db 33.8 db
Noise Margin 10.1 db 12.5 db

Can anyone please help and explain to me why this is happening, i miss non-laggy xbox live

Ps. Please don't try to tell me it's an internal problem, i've tested everything i can internally, its not.

Are those stats from a test socket? There are many posts on here about slow speeds after moving to SVBN so that is probably the issue, also you are probably on ADSL2+ and need to be switched as your line length isn't suitable for that.

You would be surprised how many come on here saying that, only to find out it is.

Plug into your Test socket, link below and post your stats from there.

If these are from your Test socket, then you have a very poor external line or a faulty router. - How to test your ADSL in the Master Socket

I am pretty sure you are on ADSL2+, but your stats are so bad it is difficult to be certain.

Re: Speed drops since signed up for Sky Talk

      My thoughts exactly!

Anyway, Sky and sending a engineer to come and fix the "internal" problem. Seems the second router they send have no effect whatsoever.
