      Phone line @ 25v

I had a problem with the phone cable so i got a new on installed today, when he tested the line he said it was @ 25v when it should be @ 50v.

I asked if that could cause my bb speeds to be lower and he said it shouldnt even be working @ 25v.

Is it worth giving bt a ring?

      cheers

You can use the BT website to get a line test run, if a fault is found they will contact you. Easier than queueing on the phone.

Who installed the new cable? It does not seem right that a BTO engineer should know that something is wrong with the line he has supposedly fixed and did nothing about it. Get on to whoever you contacted before and report the problem.

      Re: Phone line @ 25v

The guy who fitted the new box + cable said that it shouldnt even be working at such ow volts but he couldnt do anything about it even if he wanted because the problem is coming from the line outside the house and if everything works then just to leave it.
