      Poor wireless signal

      Hi,
This is my first post so please bear with me.I am connected to sky connect via a Sagem wireless router, the problem is the signal from the router which is sited in the extension has trouble getting through the orginal outside walls 12 inches thick including cavity.
I can get a signal in the lounge which is next to the extension but that is about.Have tried router in other rooms of the bungalow and it then gives a signal to all the bed rooms, but then the signal will not reach the extension.
Would the following work?.Connect a cat 5e cable from the sagem router ( spare yellow port ) to another wireless router say in the middle of the house, not connecting the phone line to the second router.Have heard bridging routers is this what it means.
I can lay my hands on a D-Link DSL-2740B wireless N router or would it have to be a sagem router.
      Can anyone please help
      ..
      thanks.

      Re: Poor wireless signal

All perfectly feasible and do able. Let the sky router allocate the DHcp.

Thanks for your reply.I must admiit i did not understand exactly what you meant by letting the Sky router allocate the DHcp. Sorry to be a pain but could you explain how to set this up, that is of course if you have the time. Many thanks

Plug your other router in to the sky router, any port will do. Go into your other router and I think its disable DCHP which would then take its ip from the sky router.

I think thats right, but someone will correct me if I am wrong.

      Re: Poor wireless signal

I think Batman meant the router as an extension.
