Do you mean an ADSL Filter (it will have two ports, one for phone and one for router)?

Have you looked for the test socket yet? this is the only thing that can rule out your side of the wiring.

Can you post your stats again from the TEST socket? This is the important one. Sky will also ask you to connect here when you are speaking to them.

Your current stats show that you have a problem with your line, this is usually internally maybe a failing filter or someone has removed a filter by mistake etc, the TEST socket will prove this.

If the test socket results are much better then you would benifit from a filtered faceplate to filter out the house wiring.

      Re: Slow download speed problem

I phoned them up today, It's not the socket I went out and bought all new filters , cables and tried it on different sockets around the house etc.... The man from sky couldn't work it out either, he spoke hardly any English and he even had the decency to say I shouldn't be getting more than 1mb on a 8mb line. then hanged up I'm just gonna cancel the package and go with 02 or someone I think.

      Re: Slow download speed problem

      Your not capped.

You need to use the test socket, click on the link in my signature for the details and follow the instructions.

You will get nowere until you do this and changing ISP's won't help, they all come down the same line which at the moment has a big problem with it.

I repeat again, get the stats from the TEST socket, it is pointless trying any other ones, only the test socket will do.

Also make sure when you connect to the test socket that you only connect the router via a microfilter, nothing else, and check that all other telephone sockets are dead.
