on the hop 3 it goes to 10.1.2.169 and i just looked it up and it says its a private IP address and cant be traced???????now im really confused?????help
I think the whole range, 10.xxx.xxx.xxx. are classed as private addresses, not usable on the internet. Some ISPs use the range to 'black hole' data. Which I think means dump it as un-forwardable. The connection then jumps to another server to go on its way.

It could be that BE have some servers down and that is why you are getting this and the time outs. Only the BE technicians could tell you for sure, but it seems Sky are not the only one whose network fails now and again.
