Unable to access internet despite router connection!

      Hi guys & gals

      Really hope somebody can help

Despite reading through forum posts and trying numerous different things I am still unable to access t'internet!

I am currently using Netgear DG834G as supplied by Sky and have no problem detecting the router wirelessly or with LAN cable. I can access the route settings. Infact all seems pretty OK except when I try to access a website for eg with ie7 it returns "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

AsI said I have tried all sorts of things but can't get on the 'net for love nor money!

I'm sure (hope!) it's something simple that you intelligent folk can help with!

      Thanks in advance.

      Andy.

Re: Unable to access internet despite router connection!

Is the Internet light on in the router?

Go into the router settings and click the Show Stats button, copy and paste the results here.

If nothing is shown for connection speed, click the Connection Status button, when the page opens, click the Disconnect button, wait 60 secs and click the Connect button.

Still no luck? Click the Sky Test button and make a note of the error number.

Looks like the router isn't synching. When you log into the router page do you have an IP against the DSL port? Also please answer the question from above about lights on the router as it will definately help point out what is happening.

Re: Unable to access internet despite router connection!

      Greetings,

As there is no sync its back to basics,
Do a full set up check,
Make sure all phones and other devices have filters on them,
Also try again using 1 filter 1 phone and the router from the master / test socket
Information on this can be found by click on the line in itisme sig called test socket or by clicking on this link :
Sky User - How to test your Master Socket

If there is no sync from the test socket after changing the filters give sky a call.

I think this says it all!!! Your router is faulty. If you are able to get on line with your mates router, which I assume is also a Sky one, then there is something wrong with the router.

Try a router reset by pushing a biro point into the little hole at the rear and holding it there for about 10 secs or until the lights flash. If you are still unable to connect, phone Sky and tell them the problems you are having and that you have borrowed a friends router which works OK. They should send you a new router.

Re: Unable to access internet despite router connection!

      PaulSky...

      Lights on router:-

power, internet "i", a lollipop (signal?), and obviously a LAN port no.! All light on green.

      As for IP addresses:-

When i log on to the router via the LAN in "Router Status" shows:-

      Firmware Version: V2.10.09

      ADSL Port
      MAC Address: 00:0f:b5:c3:72:a7
      IP Address: ---
      DHCP: PPPoA
      IP Subnet Mask: ---
      Gateway IP Address: ---
      Domain Name Server: ---

      LAN Port
      MAC Address: 00:0f:b5:c3:72:a6
      IP Address: 192.168.0.1
      DHCP: On
      IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

      Modem
      ADSL Firmware Version: 3.01.02.00
      Modem Status: Connecting
      Downstream Connection Speed: 0 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed: 0 kbps
      VPI: 0
      VCI: 38

      Wireless Port
      Name (SSID): billysastard
      Region: Europe
      Channel: 11
      Wireless AP: Enabled
      Broadcast Name: Enabled

I've reset the router via the little pin hole on the rear.

All phone lines OK filters etc. etc.

Again, thanks to all for help & assistance... we're sure to get there?

Re: Unable to access internet despite router connection!

If you reset properly it would remove your unique SSID, did you re-enter this?

Your router is not connecting, another is, the router is faulty or has corrupted firmware. You could try reflashing the firmware, see if this helps. Other than that, phone Sky.
